Well, technically a while ago but I haven't posted since then. Maggie is a 6 year old Golden Retriever who is just sweet as can be. We were lucky enough to adopt her from Lollypop Farm. I went there on my lunch break and of course there was a wait. A woman had signed up to see her before me so it was a little scary at first. I wasn't really all that keen about having an 80 lb. dog gallavanting around the house. White berber carpet is extremely difficult to keep clean with a dog going in and out all the time. I was supposed to be back at work within an hour and that certainly did not happen. Waiting for what seemed like eternity was only an hour and a half, but still. I saw her in a pen and knew right there all I needed was boy's approval. I put a deposit on her and came back to work with the news. Boy usually only works for part of the day on Wednesdays, so he left and went to see her. That is all it took, she was on her way home that night at 5. She loves the car, she gets along with the cats, she walks well on the leash and she is a delight to be around. I never realized how much I missed having a dog.

TGIF

Ever feel like this on a Friday? I was trashed out of my mind on Sunday evening. I don't even remember half of the stuff that we did that night. All I know is that it was a blast. I just wish I could live there.

I was browsing CNN today, so I have to give them credit for this quote: "Marriage between one man and one woman does a better job protecting children better than any other institution humankind has devised," said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tennessee. "As such, marriage as an institution should be protected, not redefined."

It's funny to me that in more same sex marriages, according to many surveys, of course I cannot provide them for you, children are much better off. I just don't understand how passing an amendment to the constitution would make a bit of difference. I realize now that that it is quite similar to slavery. Discrimination runs the politics and lives of many people in this country. Put your differences aside, imagine me saying that, and get along. The gays are not going to take over America. If anything, we'll make it better. So screw you, Bush. Get the hell out of the White House.

nature v. nuture, not really

..and another thing. The weather is absolutely gorgeous, my friends are sitting in the hot tub, we are all talking, it is just perfect. There are no mosquitos, the fountain is going and the candles and lights are all on. I can't ask for anything better. Well, Karl could be here. He went to work the auto show in NYC. I'm sure I will have more than my share of pictures to post of stuff that he thought was incredible.

This week at work has been really quiet. It is actually really nice. My supervisor is out for the week for a funeral in Florida. Unfortunately, unexpected, my heart goes out to her. I have been doing my own thing, getting a shit load of work done - Madonna's new CD has been in heavy rotation. I can describe what a difference it makes to be able to listen to my own music and do everything i'm supposed to do without someone perched over my shoulder.

On a totally random note, I have been thinking lately how lucky I am to have what I have. When I was driving home last night there were people in the middle of the road, waving their arms. I wasn't sure what was going on and frankly I was pissed because I thought it was people fucking around. It turns out they were totally legit. There was a deer that had been hit and it was just in the middle of the road, struggling to get up on its feet and sprint off into the woods. I saw it and it just hit me. I wasn't sure what to think, other than this poor creature was helpless in the road. I was thinking to myself as I drove by, if I could have had the mindset that the deer did, what would I be thinking? I just couldn't imagine.

awd

Yep, the idea behind Subaru. It's harsh to say but I think it is the truth. I had lunch with him last week. It was the first time I saw him in almost 4 months. I brought up things like child support owed to my mother, me being gay, my sister having a baby - just to name a few. It was like trying to get a dog to drive a car, it's just not possible. He said that it wasn't anyone's fault that he started drinking again. Blah. So this weekend I am supposed to meet with him and my sister for breakfast in the city. What can I do, I just say yes so I don't have to deal with his bullshit. I'm just at odds, not sure what to do.

Karl's mother and step-father are coming up to visit on Easter weekend. Yuck. I hate Easter. We have a lot of cleaning and primping to do. I have been talking to my parents about borrowing theiri Dyson for a couple of days just to see what that puppy can do. Everyone always rants and raves about the damn thing, so I figured I would give it a try. We have berber carpets in our house and as you probably know, they suck up dirt like a sponge. I have to go to Home Depot to rent a steam cleaner. I am going on a ravenous cleaning spree this weekend.

Saturday, our friends Kim, Sandy and Danielle are coming over for dinner. We have known Kim for a couple of years now, she is married to the Lot Manager at work. Summer deck parties led us to meet Sandy and Danielle, who live next door to Kim. They are great and we seem to get along well. Danielle recently moved to New York City to take a stab at a new life in the big city. I am not really that big into entertaining people - I get nervous and concerned people are not having a good time. So hopefully grilled food an alcohol will entertain this group. It always seems to work.

tarnished image

At times I think some of my father has rubbed off on me. Yeah, i'm sure that doesn't make any sense, but to me, it's understandable. I got a call from my father today, he's been in jail since January of this year. It was awkward, I was at work and I have to answer my phone. I heard this voice I knew was my father's, but at the same time it was almost like a stranger. He wanted me to go to lunch with him this Wednesday and I responded, thinking to myself, this is definitely not a good idea. Ever since my parents got divorced in 1991, it has almost been like a game of hide and seek. My dad was always the one trying to hide. He didn't want to pay child support and I lived through all of his lies until I was a freshman in college. Yeah, I know that is pathetic, but that is how it was. He was in jail because of his DWI. After 17 years sober, he relapsed, for some strange reason.

I find myself asking the question: How? I have absolutely no idea in the world why he would do such a thing. Sometimes I believe that it was me coming out to him, but I think he started drinking long before I told him. He blames it on a number of things, but I think it is all total bullshit. No fucking excuses. He has done nothing but pull the wool over peoples eyes. He plays people like they are total morons. Bullshit. I have come to know him as a liar and a cheater, nothing more than someone who likes to make pawns out of people. I realize that this is really harsh, but I feel it is nothing other than the truth. So as I sit here with a huge cloud of dissapointment looming over my head, I think that he did this to himself. As much as I want to have a relationship with my father, I think that is something that will take a long time to establish. Wounds take time to heal and I think he has created a wound that will fester for a long, long time.

So theraputic

Starbucks coffee is what i'm referring to. Last night I flew off the handle for no reason at Karl. I have long realized and admitted to having a problem with depression and anxiety. I was on medication for a about a year and hated the side effects. Weight gain, lack of sex drive, I was just so sick of it that I stopped and that probably wasn't the best thing to do. I notice a tremendous difference when I am taking my medication. I guess as much as I hate going to the doctor, that is probably my best bet at this point. I want something that makes me as balanced as the other "stuff" but doesn't have the negative side effects.

So back to Starbucks. I tremendously enjoy drinking coffee, especially from Starbucks. It is theraputic for me to go and sit down, do some work on the laptop and drink a Veinte coffee. Tonight I am going to meet my friend Beth there, we could sit for hours and just talk about the most random shit. This is what I love about her. I met her my junior year in high school on a whim in the computer lab. I was quiet and kept to myself, but she piped up for some reason and invited me over to play Aerobie. I decided to do it and from there stemmed an amazing friendship. She had no idea I was gay when we first met, then again, no one did. She is the first one I came to because I could trust her. Beth was not one to pass judgement for petty things like sexuality. We became the best of friends over the course of a couple of months. I distinctly remember her mother and how strict she was with Beth's curfew. I thought wow, I could not even imagine having to be home at midnight every weekend night. Besides the fact that this sometimes would cut our escapades short, we still had shitloads of fun. Graduation came around and she ended up in Washington, DC at American University. I would be going to Niagara University in Lewiston, NY. It was a long way for such close friends, but we would constantly talk on Instant Messenger and over the phone.

I have to cut things short, I am at work. More to come tonight.

I hope you don't think this is lame...

I am sitting here getting ready to go to bed, listening to music and reminiscing about my past. Aaliyah's song "More Than a Woman" was the song that I listened to over and over again the first time I went to visit my friend Beth at American University in 2001. It was my first time in DC and I was utterly amazed. It was a whirlwind of feelings, I was not completely out at the time but there were so many guys at AU that were. I wasn't quite sure what to think, be myself? So I did and ended up having a blast in the process. No one there cared what orientation you were or what you did. It was a huge relief.

I remember getting trashed out of my mind and running rampant through DC. Of course we weren't even 21 yet, but we still managed to get into a bar. Those were the days when it was a huge feat to smuggle alcohol into the dormitories. We went the the Zoo, Georgetown, the Mall; there was just so much to take in it was mesmorizing. I didn't really get out much when I was younger. I was very quiet and kept to myself. Aside from college, meeting new people there, this was a totally new learning experience. I had to force myself to converse with people I wasn't necessarily comfortable with. That idea seemed to work and over the course of a long weekend I made a boatload of new friends. We all had an amazing time and I remember when it was time to leave I just had an empty feeling. That was where I wanted to be and even though I did have my friends back at school, it was almost as though I belonged there.

As much as I am grateful that my life is where it is, there are always things you think about in your past. I'm sure you can all attest to that. What if I had moved to DC when I was that young? What if I hadn't met Beth my senior year of high school? I ultimately would never have gone to DC, at least to experience the aspect of college life in a big city. Everything happens for a reason, I guess. I am so thankful that this experience ultimately led me to where I am today. I am one lucky man.

Sven 2

Pictures of the squeaky clean new boy. You can see all of my hottness here. Not. I must say it is a great tool for networking and meeting new people in your area. The best part about it is that you can acutally find people that are looking for friends and not f*ck buddies. I am quite impressed and have already made quite a few friends.

I was having coffee the other night at none other that Starbuck's with no one other than Beth. We were talking and suddenly became reminiscent of our college years. I really miss college, life in the dorms and actually doing challenging school work. I bet none of you thought I would say that huh? I miss the nights where I would be screwed because I had waited the last day of a 3-month allotted period to write a paper. I would hole up in my room with Bella, a cup of coffee and some good music, only to miraculously pound out a 12 page paper in 5 hours. Aside from the occasional cigarette to calm my nerves..boy do I miss them, I would pretty much be glued to my chair. Of course the topic of going back to school has come up in conversation for both Karl and I, but it takes up a lot of time. I have decided that I am ready for the challenge and would like to go back to school in the fall. Yeah, it would be a community college, but who cares. I feel so bored with work, I want more of a challenge. If I can get some business and accounting classes under my belt then I think I will be much better off to find a job that pays well and offers me a challenge.

it's really overrated

Yes, Valentine's Day is so overrated. It is just another excuse for Americans to go out and spend billions of dollars on crap. Plastic hearts, candy, flowers. You shouldn't have one day where your love for someone is greater than any other day. I did stop and get Karl a flower this morning. A tulip, since those are his favorite.

I rearranged my desk this morning. This is a ritual for me to do at least once a month, sometimes once a week. I can't stand monotony. Variety is the spice of life. I just have to find a place to put my fish tank now. It really is the neatest thing, you can check it out here - Fish tank.

big old bust

The convertible, it was a huge bust. We ended up driving close to 650 miles on Sunday to discover that the damn car had paint work. When we confronted the dealership they were completely puzzled. Total bullshit. How can a dealership that specializes in imports not know that this car had paint work? But as Karl said, it was better that we made the mistake of spending $100 on gas and tolls, rather than close to $10k on the car. The saying too good to be true is starting to become the highlight or our lives.

In response to the total nonsense of an out of state dealer who lies through their teeth, Karl talked to one of the wholesalers that works through our dealership. He is going to keep his eyes open for exactly what we want. It is nice to have the piece of mind that you can trust someone.

Other more important things include the gym. It's unbelievable. I hated it the first couple of days, but we are slowly and surely making progress. Luckily we have a friend who works with us and is totally ripped. He has been going to the gym for years and I really trust his judgement in terms of getting a good workout. So we will see what happens over the next couple of months. I can't wait to have a body that doesn't have to be covered because it is so stomach turning.

wondering

I often wonder what other people think of Karl and myself. We have had 10 new Subarus in the past 3 years. We have bought a house that we have done a lot of work with. I have no intention of blabbing about how well of we are, but it's true. If I recall correctly, people refer to gays as D.I.N.O.'s. Double Income, No Kids. I guess that is one of the joys of not having children. We have 2 cats and that is plenty. If we work hard for our money, I certainly don't see what the problem is in spending it. So without further ado...something Karl has wanted for years...a 1999 SAAB 93 SE covertible. Black with beige leather. Yeah, it's used, but well worth the money. We are driving to Massaschusetts on Sunday to pick her up.

Think. My apologies for not updating more. We have been having a blast. We arrived Saturday early in the morning and were whisked away by Karl's grandmother and cousin from Germany. There was no time to waste, we had lunch in Castro at a quaint, if you can belive it, restaurant. Sunday we made our way to Mendocino up route 1, which snakes along the west coast. The views were amazing. In Mendocino we stayed at the Mendocino Hotel which had stunning garden suites with a victorian flair. Not really my cup of tea, but give me a room with a fireplace and I am all set.

We finally made our way back down highway 101 to Napa and Sonoma, where we are today. We are planning on having more than our share of wine tastings today. Tomorrow we arrive in San Jose. Stay tuned, much more to come.

Just do it.

I know this post is long overdue. Hurricane Katrina has devastated so much. My heart goes out to those down south.

This past weekend (my birthday), we spent on the Long Island Coast. In the Hamptons, a posh area of New York with out of control wealth. This is the kind of place where every other car is a Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, Aston Martin or Ferrari. It is totally sick. We stayed with our friends and their dog Mandy, a Jack Russell. It was painful to come home. Karl, his grandmother, his cousin and I will be in the Golden State. For all you San Franciscan bloggers: if you read this shoot me some comments on things to see and places to get tanked. I'm not too sure where we will be staying yet, but we will have a car. Karl made a point to have me take a gander at Hertz's inventory and sure enough they rent Subarus. Isn't that just perfect. We don't already deal with the damn things enough, he wants to rent one when we go to California.

I was also thinking, judging by the blogs I read that we may even be able to meet up with a few of you. It is a ST1 or Short Throw Shifter for a 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT. Hopefully after some saving it will be in my car. It is just what it's called. Short throw. For all of you who drive a "handshaker", it can be a pain the the ass to take longer shifts in a sportier car. By reducing the distance you can shift faster and in turn accelerate faster. It really does make a world of difference. My car already accelerates from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds after the boost mod. I added 10 horsepower to a 250 stock turbo engine. The car is just sick. For the money you can't really beat it. I can outrun quite a few $50,000+ sports cars. For you all to drool, I have attached another pic of my little girl.

something has got to be wrong with me

I was looking at my car today in disgust. My uncles's funeral is Wednesday August 3rd. My aunt and cousins are flying in from Las Vegas to have the service in Rochester. I haven't seen them in over a year. I am really looking forward to seeing my cousin Kelli.

Things were always kind of different with her. She is adopted and the only girl in a family of 4 other boys. She is down to earth and knows what she is doing. She is one of my very best friends. I used to be with her non stop when I used to go out to Las Vegas to visit. I was told she was manipulative and back stabbing. I just didn't see it. Turns out, she is the most successful and normal of the 5 kids. She is 26 now and married to a police officer, they have a beautiful home and they are just great. She is the first person I came out to other than my friends at school and considering her religious background (she converted to Mormonism for 2 years) she was totally cool with it. The fact that she knew didn't change anything.

So with bad things can come good. My attitude as well as my life have become so humble over the past couple of years. I feel at peace when I am with my cousin. It sounds wierd, but she just puts me in a great mood. When I couple that with my relationship I don't think things can get any better.

envious

I have been reading other blogs for quite a while. I usually don't whine about things, but i'm going to whine. We have been getting numerous issues of Out and Advocate magazines with half naked ripped men plastered all over the cover. It's a shame that gay America thrives off of that. But hey, it will probably never change. I look at myself and i'm really not happy with my body image. I have a huge gut, not even a little flab, a big belly. It sucks, but then again I don't really watch what I eat, I don't exercise and I would rather sit at home and watch TV or play WoW. I have come to the realization that I need to do something about my body. I'm sick of having to suck in my gut or constantly be self concious about my damn boobs exploding out of my shirt. I know that I can't have an amazing body in a couple of days, or even a couple of weeks. It is something that I really need to work at. If it involves less time sitting on my ass, then I will do it. It is getting to the point where I hate myself because of my body. It sounds harsh, but it's true.

Karl's grandmother is coming up for a visit tonight from Alexandria, VA. I am pretty excited to see her, it has been more than 6 months. I have to entertain for the day tomorrow so we will more than likely take a trip to Target to shop. I also have to pick up a Monster power surge protector for the new TV. Nothing like spending $100 on a damn surge protector.

long overdue Memorial Day recap

NYC was great. I just can't decide. I'm thinking that it will have to have something to do with my field of work (Subaru) and my initials, first and last name anyway (IT). So as lame as it probably is, I have narrowed it down to SubaruIT. I think that will fly.

Karl wants another car. Ever since the 2005 Subarus came out, he has wanted an Outback XT. It looks like it may finally be a reality, considering we can get one for a couple more dollars than what we are paying on his car now. It is really a hard deal to pass up. So in a couple of weeks expect to see pictures of the new car. Keep your fingers crossed.

We won't get the car soon enough for Karl's mother's visit to Rochester. They will be coming up for the weekend of Easter to see us and the girls. Hell, it seems like it has been years, but more like 4 or5 months. It should be exciting to see her and her husband. Pre-Easter, of course, are the St. Patrick's Day festivities. Tonight we will be bar hopping with one of Karl's customers, believe it or not. We have hung out with her once before and she is nuts. As if the green mac salad I had today wasn't enough, tonight I will be downing a few pitchers of green beer.

Another random thought - I really want a big screen TV. We have been considering whether or not to purchase one for quite a while. I think it is time. The 27" box we have sitting in our living room will suffice for a month or so more, but 47 inches of pure beauty would be awfully nice. We have our eye set on a breathtaking unit at the local wholesale club. I know, i'm spoiled.

sick as hell

I haven't had a cold in quite a while. The Tribeca needs a home for a couple of days before the regional representative can come to pick it up. You guessed it. That home is at Van Bortel Subaru. We had to go home from the first trip to grab the check book. You know, those pesky $500 limits on ATM withdraws. Apparently it also applies to a damn debit card, even though I would rather use that because I don't have to lift my hand to sign my name. We came back with a check and even went so far as to complete the damn transaction and they were out of stock. Thank god that was the case, because Karl got a call from his accountant and he owes money to the shady ass government. Things happen for a reason.

My sister came over with Natalie last night to go over car insurance rates. She finally realized that it probably was not the best situation to be in and decided to leave. I am so proud of her. Her daughter who is now about 7 months old is the cutest damn thing to crawl the planet. I spent some time with her and little Natalie last night and couldn't help but beam as I saw her smile at everything. As soon as I walked in the door, she started to stare at me. Whenever I stick my tongue out at her she smiles and makes all sorts of noises. I hope this is finally the point where things start to change so my sister can get her life back on track.

This past weekend the weather was amazing, it was 50 and sunny both Saturday and Sunday. It was a nice alternative to the frigid snowy weather. I got the speakers I wanted for the computer. They sound incredible. For $50 I got a 28-watt sound system that sounds better than my home theatre system. I can't get along at work without a stapler so I thought why not get one that is powered? So I did, after a lot of arm pulling I managed to get it. It is pretty neat. It will staple anywhere from 2 to 20 sheets like a hot knife through butter.

I know, the smallest things amuse me.

god made Starbucks for a reason

Last night entailed a ritualistic trip to Starbucks for a grande dark roast with sugar-free hazlenut. The music is so upbeat and danceable. Get XM! It's out of this world, literally.

Interior, sorry about the flash it reflected off of the dash.

Tribeca

and so it goes..

I know it has been quite a while since I have posted. I apologize. I even took my picture down because it was yucky.

The holidays were great and of course, busy. I went out and bought XM Satellite Radio a couple of days after Karl had installed his. It is amazing. You really don't realize how nice it is to have commercial free radio until you listen to it for hours on end. Not one commercial, not ONE! I bought a home kit for the apartment so I can play it through the stereo. We can now entertain without having to worry about changing CDs or fast forwarding through songs. The songs they play are hardly ever repeated and the mix is always great. Nothing but good things to say about it. Spend the $100 on the unit and the $10 a month for subscription, it is worth it.

In the realm of Subaru, remember I work as an accountant for the largest dealership in the country...we are coming out with a crossover utility vehicle. A friendly name for an SUV, basically. It is bigger than the Outback and mated with the top of the line Outback's engine, a 250 horsepower 6 cylinder engine. I seem to think that it will be underpowered, especially for a car weighing in at nearly 4300 pounds. We'll see, I guess. Karl went to Detroit Auto Show for its debut and said it was a really nice looking vehicle. I will post pictures of the Tribeca later.

My best friend who was going to school in Washington, D.C. and then came back to Rochester after she graduated from college is leaving again to move to New York City. I am quite envious. Ever since Karl spoiled me by taking me there, I have wanted to live there. It is just so damn expensive, however, I would be willing to sacrifice the extra expense for an amazing city. There is just so much to do and see. I could get more into photography. But, i'm happy in Rochester. My job is great, my family is here and so is my boyfriend. Things work out for a reason.

I'm still alive...here we are playing in the snow.

post christmas depression

It's that time of year. I took my floating holiday on Friday and had the rest of the weekend off. We had a Christmas party Saturday night at our friend's Mike and Mark's house. The food was quite tasty, the alcohol was even better. This was the first time I had a French Martini - vodka, pineapple juice and chambord. Muy delicioso.

Of all nights to have a party, Sunday, Brian and George's place was off the hizzity. Their apartment is pretty small and we managed to cram about 30 people in there. It was crazy congested, but the people were nice and there was food everywhere I turned. Last night the temperatures struggled to climb above zero. This morning when I woke up the car sure didn't like me. The thermometer read a chilling zero degrees. That is pretty cold for this early in the season.

dooce it for the holidays

I think it is important to put a little tidbit in here about dooce. I couldn't believe how inexpensive they were. I mean, they aren't top of the line, but they certainly aren't bringing up the rear, either. I got the rosemary clay masque and the cucumber peel off masque. All I have to say is wow. I am totally impressed with the feeling while using the product and the results afterwards.

Saturday was my office Christmas party at my supervisor's house. Fun. Never did I think drinking myself silly with coworkers would be entertaining. Surprisingly it was. I thought it would be awkward at first, but after a couple of gin and bombay sapphires, I was having a grand old time. There was enough food to feed a small army. 6 stuffed pork tenderloins, au gratin potatoes and more than I can even list here consisted of the main course. There were so many hors d'oeuvres I can't even remember them all. The main purpose of the gathering was to exchange Christmas ornaments with other office employees. We made out quite well. The ornament we go is a snowman inside of a blue glass globe.

Tonight we had an awesome dinner over at my friend Beth's house. Chicken parmesean, Wegman's rolls and caesar salad. Yum. It turned out to be a little routy after we had a couple of drinks, a piano and a guitar. Enough said.

I must also say that DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is an awesome invention. I haven't really gotten a chance to play with it since I got it on Saturday. I'm looking forward to not having to make plans around TV. I know that sounds sad. Up to twenty hours of recorded TV all at the push of a button. I never thought I would be this excited.

tree trimming

I thought we needed more ornaments than we already had. That is what we came home with. The tree is huge; it takes up more than a corner of our already crowded apartment. Of course the girls were all over it. I was surprised to see Reese causing more trouble than Bella. She kept jumping up on the window sill to sniff the branches.

We let it sit overnight so the branches would separate and fall down. This morning it was nice to come out to see a big ass tree sitting in our living room. Amazingly, it was still standing. Tonight we get to play with lights and ornament hooks. I can hardly wait. Expect to see a picture of it later on.

the big apple

Karl and I had already decided that we were going to go to New York City. I fussed and had a fit because I didn't want to drive down Saturday after he got out of work. We would have ended up leaving Rochester around 6:30 or 7 that night and would have to return less than 24 hours later. I guess one of the joys of him being a car salesman is that he never has Saturdays off. Maybe if you people would have a day off during the week when you could come out and shop around...

The city was amazing, like it is every time I go. I intended on taking more pictures but I feel like an ass as I walk around trying to find a subject to photograph. I feel like people are watching me every move I make. Like i'm a wierdo because I like to take pictures. This is probably me just overreacting a bit much. Saturday morning we had a kick ass brunch with our friends Michael and Scott, a couple with an unbelieveable place in the West Village. I must mention that their Jack Russell, Mandy, is awfully cute. We spent the rest of the day shopping, more like rummaging around looking for Christmas presents for the girls! We ended at Fetch where we got those two cuties a tin full of three bathed (in catnip, of course) mice and yarn animals.

If spending a weeks worth of pay on cat toys wasn't enough, we had dinner at an incredible steakhouse. What looked like a small animal was 18 oz. of filet mignot that was so tender it was like slicing a hot knife through butter. $450 dollars later, compliments of our friends Michael and Scott, for Christmas we went out for drinks and called-it-a-night.

I already miss it so. I would love to live there but the wallet just isn't big enough.

It was an action packed weekend traveling the streets of New York City. Right around 2 o'clock, after my 4 or 5 morning cups have worn off I get extremely lethargic. Almost to the point where I just don't want to do anymore work. I have the same feeling now. I met up with a friend at Starbuck's and had a cup of coffee at 6'ish. I am already losing steam and I really want to watch Law and Order. I could go to bed earlier, but what fun is that?

The decision was made to have Thanksgiving at my parent's house this year. Karl and I had planned on going to NYC to spend it with his friends, but that idea fell through. We don't even have the Friday after Thanksgiving off. I guess I should snap back to reality and look at the big picture. I do work at a car dealership and cars are a retail item. So if the biggest shopping day in the US is the day after Thanksgiving (black friday), then people should be out buying cars, right?

No...I think they are going to be so stuffed full of turkey and god damn mashed potatoes and shit from the day before that they won't be wobbling out to test drive a car. In all likeliehood, they won't want to buy a car either.

Toys

As mentioned in the post below, I purchased my newest toy, a fingerprint reader. I also got a new digital camera. A Canon A85. After purchasing a Sony DSC-P73 I just wasn't happy. The image quality was mediocre at best, even for a 4.1 megapixel camera. I opted for the Canon and have been happy with every picture taken so far.

Now that I have got all these goodies, i'm not sure what I want for Christmas. We were holed up in a fishing lodge, if you will. The Eldred Preserve, aka the kind of place you'd see some old hick with a gone fishin' sign. The wedding was short and sweet, much less formal than a christian wedding.

Today we had our thirty day review at work. In my new accounting position I am responsible for closing deals, manipulating numbers and then getting all of that nonsense to balance back to zero. It gets quite confusing trying to move money from account to account.

I extended an invitation to my parents to come for dinner this Friday. I need ideas on what to make. I was thinking tomatoes, basil and mozzarella with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for an appetizer. To top it all off, some sort of red meat along with vegetables or perhaps a salad. We'll see.

That damn girl.

I just can't get over her.

Good Deed Mouse

I don't want to brag about it any more than necessary but I feel good about myself after what I did this morning. Karl had forgot to bring his cell phone with him that night, so he was shit out of luck until someone stopped and offered to help him 2 hours later.

I saw a Ford Aspire, a beautiful car mind you, billowing smoke by the side of the road. When some of the smoke cleared I saw a woman getting out of the car and I just couldn't keep on driving. I thought about the night Karl was stranded and how that woman would probably end up waiting until a popo drove by. Fat chance, the only thing they do is pull people over and give them tickets. So I stopped and offered to help her with a phone call or a ride. Sure enough she worked right in Victor and I dropped her at work. I don't often get a chance to do things like that so I felt really good about it.

New picture, isn't she a cute girl too!

Don't DO dat!

Since I can't figure out how the hell to post a regular entry along with a picture, I have to do a separate entry so it doesn't caption the whole thing.

I got an instant message from one of my good friends from Niagara University tonight. It was a kick back and relax couple of days. Sunday brought quite a humbling experience. Out of the blue Sunday morning Karl told me he had an inkling to go and visit his father's grave. He couldn't really explain the feeling.

Without a second thought, we were on our way to Kane, PA, about 175 miles south of Rochester. It was actually a really nice drive. The leaves were putting on a beautiful show and the traffic wasn't too bad. We arrived in Kane, which I was told didn't even have a traffic light. To both of our surprise within the last 3 years since Karl's vivist, a traffic light had been erected. It really was quite a depressed area and when we went to eat the the local diner, it was even more apparent when people acknowledged each other by name.

At the cemetary it was pretty serene, tombstones dotted the landscape while the leaves fell lazily to the ground. We payed our respects and talked for a bit, then headed back into town to bring back some flowers. I was happy to be there for him, knowing it would be a hard thing to deal with alone.

Octoberfest

It is finally that time of year again. The days get longer, the nights cooler. The flashy red and orange hues of the falling leaves seem to the days a little less stressful. All of this paves way for winter, indeed the best time of the year.

For once I am sort of in a reflective mood. I have been thinking about many things lately. Some of those being my job and relationship and how much has changed over the past couple of years in my life. Since I have met Karl there has been such a noticeable change to me in the way that I live my life. I have someone to come home to and for once a job that I actually enjoy waking up in the morning for. I don't have a problem working overtime and I like my coworkers. Things are going really well and I really couldn't be happier.

Busy

Sorry people, it's been quite a while. I told my dad yesterday that I was gay. I hadn't talked to him in about a month and out of the blue he calls me at work and asks me for a ride. I decide to do it. On the ride home he again asked me if I was living with my mother. I said well sort of and it just came out. I told him about my sexuality and him being the stupid idiot that he is, he said does that mean you like boys better than girls? I didn't really go into great detail because I did not want to waste my time. I dropped him at his car and that was it.

I talked to my sister today, who is living with my dad. She said that he was asking her about me and said that "gay people are fucked up," and "I will tell that to your brother's face". That is really the last straw. The very reason I haven't told him about me for the past 2 years. Oh well, no skin off my back.

Uh huh

It actually turned out to be quite a nice weekend. The weather was just perfect, sunny and 70 both days. Sunday was spent at the Clothsline Art Festival at the Memorial Art Gallery. We (Subaru) had a booth there with a new 2005 Outback and of course lesbian after lesbian was drooling all over it.

I spent a majority of the day Saturday with my mom, Hilary and Natalie doing girlie type things. We went to the craft store to pick out patterns for a new snowsuit for Natalie. All in all we were there for about 2 and a half hours - a long time. For dinner Karl and Beth and Hilary and everyone had dinner in the mosquito infested backyard of my parents. I hope I don't have West Nile.

A graciously appointed interior. We drove down Friday and camped out at Karl's mother's apartment in the city. Saturday brought a rendezvous with our friends Michael and Scott, brunch at Boxer's and dinner at Angelo's in Little Italy. The fettucine alfredo was top notch.

Sunday we had the pleasure of driving to Woodstock with Michael and Scott to look at weekend houses they are interested in purchasing. All I have to say is wow, more than I will probably make at work in a lifetime. We separated that night and managed to find our way to Tang Tang chinese restaurant for some yummy sesame chicken (of course!).

The long weekend was drawn to a close with a stop at Karl's mother's country house, in Woodridge, NY. It was a perfect day. The sun was shining and it was about 70 degrees. Great weather to just sit outside and have a bite to eat. We said our goodbyes and headed back to Rochester.

A great time had by all.

I couldn't forget me driving Michael's fatty BMW X5.

Karl and I with a great view of the city.
