Here it is!
Caffeine High
There is nothing like a big cup of Starbuck's coffee with a sugarfree hazelnut shot. It is really the only thing I can enjoy while on Atkins. After work this is where I went with Beth. Starbuck's on the corner of Monroe and Clover. It was yum.
I also took 5 minutes out of my busy day to take the relationship
quiz. My results:
eXpressive: 5/10
Practical: 7/10
Physical: 8/10
Giver: 10/10
You are magnetic, charming, an impossible to resist. You have no problem with approaching the opposite sex -- it just comes naturally to you, and the thrill of warming up a stranger is one of your great drives. Still, very few people really know you. You don't just "feel" misunderstood -- you are.
You're calm in a conflict (almost too calm -- a more emotional partner may wonder why you're not more engaged) and quick with affection. fighting makes you uncomfortable, but as you avoid direct conflict your frustrations can manifest in the cold shoulder and passive-aggression, which is no better! Still, you make a loving, doting parent -- giving more love than discipline -- and your children prefer you.
You put so much thought and effort in what you give to your partner that you feel dismissed and unappreciated if you don't get the same in return.
You've got to open up! You express and give so much of yourself in other ways -- don't be afraid to express what's bothering you.
I got a fun business card case from my Mom on her trip to Canada. She actually took the fast ferry and like it. I will have to try. I'm trying to figure out how to attach a picture without it being a huge burden to you or me...
Solitude
I couldn't describe a more perfect weekend. It was Karl's birthday Friday evening so we had dinner at P.F. Changs. A contemporary themed asian style restaurant. The typical beef and broccoli, some sort of knock off sesame chicken that was quite tasty and dark and comfortable atmosphere.
Saturday morning was the traditional morning breakfast with the Van Bortel crew at Brenda's Family Restaurant (aka scary mildew stinky infested place, but yummy food) Sunday brought dinner at Brian and George's humble abode.
The weather was absolutely picturesque. Low 70's, sunny with a slight breeze. I haven't been that happy in quite awhile.

Feeling Empty
"It's the bitter taste of losing everything I hold so dear..."
Gay
At first I just couldn't believe it. "NJ Governer Quits, Sites Affair With Man." A particular piece of Governer James McGreevey's speech just popped out at me... "As a young child, I often felt ambivalent about myself; in fact, confused,'' he said. "By virtue of my traditions and my community, I worked hard to ensure that I was
accepted as part of the traditional family of America."
America is supposed to be the land of the free. It shouldn't matter whether or not a person is a homosexual or queer or gay or whatever the hell you want to call it. He waited until he was 57 years old. That just makes me sick. I think about how hard it was for me to come out and I am only 21. I just can't imagine what it was like for someone to wait 40 years, to live through 2 marriages and to have kids.
Gin and Tonic
So I spent a majority of last night messing around with the god damn bathtub after it had clogged entirely. For the past couple of weeks it has been really slow to drain. One thing that really bothers me is taking a shower in a puddle of water. Miraculously, at 11:30pm last night, it finally unclogged. I couldn't have been happier.
I also had a chance to spend some time with my best friend from high school, Beth. She basically has been separated from me for the past 4 years in Washington, DC at American University. Since we are both on the Atkins diet, it has been catch up time at my place for the past couple of nights. It's crazy to think what a $10 dollar bottle of gin, some diet tonic and good food can do. Enough said.
Toronto, Ontario, Canada...Yours to discover!
Don't ask me why or how, but we successfully made it back from Canada. No one was arrested, no one got run over by a car, but Karl and Michele tried to board the Magic Bus. The Madison Avenue Bar or Pub or whatever the hell it was called, was one of the coolest bars I have been to. It was a mansion, basically, that had each separate room as a bar. Of course we all know that mansions have multiple decks and fireplaces and all that sort of good stuff. We ate dinner on one outdoor deck and then drank on another.
For brunch we went to "Over Easy", a really nice "mom and pop" type restaurant, but much more contemporary and hip, if you will. The food was great and the coffee carafe was even more fun. An Ikea type contraption, it was iradescent blue in color and round like Buddha's belly. You just couldn't help but rub it for good luck.
So all in all it was a great night and Toronto will be seeing more of us in the near future.
Canadia
Tomorrow night we are traveling to Toronto to visit our friend Michele. More commonly known as TOO high.
Prestige accomodations are at the Four Seasons in toronto. We will be lounging in a suite, swimming in the pool and getting drunk in Toronto. Thinking of you all of course.
More to come, kids.

Me and that Girl
Shoot me now
I have been siting here the entire day think of ways to shut my coworker up. It is a constant battle of I have done this better than you, or I know someone who did that too. There is just no way to win.
It's one of those days where I want to put on headphones and blast the music so I don't have to listen to people's bullshit.
Last night while over at my mom's I saw my sister and lil baby Nat. She is adorable. I got to feed and snuggle with her for a bit. The quiet cute Nat I know didn't last long. The whole situation got quickly out of hand when she wouldn't shut her yapper. Also gracing Hilary's presence was Johnny. I can't believe how delapidated he has become over the past year. Skin and bones along with a raspy voice were all there was to him. It's a shame what happens when you get involved with drugs.
There's a first time for everything
I wouldn't exactly call it a first time, but a second try at something I have always wanted to do. Publish a blog that people will actually want to read. It may take a while.
First things first, roodrvr. A roo is a special kind of vehicle, a Subaru of course. Life for the past 2 years has revolved primarily around those 4 wheeled boxes that we take for granted - cars. Since I met Karl, my partner, I have become immersed in a sort of "car" culture, if you will. Judging from the attitude he has towards them now, I can assure you that he was going gaga over them in his mother's womb.
So we both work at Van Bortel Subaru, the number one selling Subaru dealership in the country. He, in sales, me, in accounting. It has only been 3 months for me and i'm loving every minute of it. In all honesty, it is more than a job, it is becoming a passion.
Bare with me and I will get all of the boring details out of the way. I hope you are in for a fun ride.
